Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?
A static QR encodes the destination directly in its pattern. It works forever and needs no account, but the destination can never change. A dynamic QR encodes a short ExaRoutes URL that redirects to your real destination, so you can change where it points, see scan analytics, and route different visitors to different places, all without reprinting.
Are static QR codes really free forever?
Yes. Generate as many as you want, at any size, with any styling, with no signup required. The free generator at exaroutes.com/qr-generator is the no-friction entry point.
Can I update a dynamic QR’s destination without reprinting?
Yes. That’s the entire point of dynamic QRs. Update the destination from the dashboard or via the API. The printed QR stays the same.
What file formats can I download QR codes in?
PNG for raster use and SVG for print. SVG is vector, so it scales to any size without quality loss, which matters for packaging, posters, and signage.
Do my dynamic QR codes expire?
A dynamic QR keeps working for as long as your subscription is active. You can also set an explicit expiry date on an individual QR if you want it to stop redirecting after a campaign ends.
What’s the difference between scan analytics and Google Analytics?
ExaRoutes scan analytics tells you about the scan event: country, device, browser, when, how often. GA4 picks up after the scan, on your destination page. They complement each other. Most teams enable GA4 + Meta Pixel injection so the scan attributes the user before they land.
Can multiple people manage the same QR codes?
Yes. Invite teammates from Settings → Team. Each member has a role: Owner, Admin, Editor, or Viewer. Roles control what they can do.
Do you support GS1 Digital Link?
Yes, on the Business and Enterprise plans. ExaRoutes resolves GS1 Digital Link URIs (for
example /01/<GTIN>) with the same dynamic redirect and scan analytics as a standard QR. It is
the building block for product packaging that needs EU Digital Product Passport (DPP)
compliance.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Workspace owners can export QRs, scans, and form submissions as CSV from the dashboard, or fetch via the API.
Is there a free trial on paid plans?
Yes. 14 days on every paid tier. No credit card required to start.
What payment methods do you accept?
ExaRoutes uses Dodo Payments as its merchant of record. You can pay with major credit and debit cards; Dodo handles billing, invoicing, and tax.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes. Paid plans have a 7-day refund window. See the refund policy for the details.
